ORI stands for Originating Agency Identifier Number. These numbers tell the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) why you need the background check and to whom to send your results. Your ORI number ensures your fingerprints are sent to the right state department.
It is very important for you to only use the Live Scan form provided to you by the potential employer, licensee or provider.
The most common fingerprinting types are Level II background check, Medicaid, AHCA, DBPR, DOH, DCF, APD and VECHS.
You will need a DBPR background check with your fingerprinting
A VECHS background check, or a Volunteer and Employee Criminal History System background check, is a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted on individuals working with vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly, or disabled individuals.
A NCLEX fingerprint background check is a mandatory criminal background check, typically conducted using fingerprints, for individuals applying for nursing licensure, specifically before taking the NCLEX-RN exam.
FDLE retains fingerprints for five years.
DBPR (Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation) fingerprints are held for 12 months from the date the digital fingerprints are electronically received by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Per FBI regulation, your prints cannot be shared between professions or with other agencies. You are required to have separate prints for each license. Be sure you have the correct ORI number for the new license when submitting.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement asks that applicants wait at least 3-5 business days to receive their results. Please be aware that All County Fingerprinting does not receive or review the results. Live Scan results are sent directly to the agency that requested the background check, not to the individual being fingerprinted. You will receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN) after your fingerprints are submitted, which you can use to track the submission status with the requesting agency. Track your submission here.
Please ensure the information you provide (especially ORI number) is accurate. Once it is received by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, it will be processed exactly as it was submitted and cannot be changed. We do not issue refunds under any circumstances once the scan has been submitted.
